Hearing Aids
What is a hearing aid?
A hearing aid is a type of amplification and assistive device, used to assist those who are hard of hearing. They are normally small, electronic devices, powered by a battery. These can be small round batteries like those used in watches, or rechargeable batteries that usually come pre-installed in the hearing device. Hearing aids are worn either in the ear, or behind the ear, to assist in amplifying sound and speech.
These devices convert external sound waves into louder sounds for the listener, to assist them in communicating, and interacting with their environment. Today’s hearing aids also make use of modern technology, in terms of signal enhancement, noise cancellation and specific sound representation to help the user as much as possible.
