Hearing Aid Parts

Hearing aids are complicated instruments, with several inter-related working components. Below are some of the working parts and a brief description of its function:  

Microphone: located near the top of the unit, to receive external sounds and speech from the environment

Battery: powers the unit, can be rechargeable or non-rechargeable

Receiver (speaker): reproduces the enhanced sound signal to the wearer

Receiver wire: connects the receiver to the main hearing aid shell

Processor: located within the main shell, the heart of the hearing aid, and is responsible for receiving
incoming sound, processing it, and sending to the receiver for production.
