Kyle Aitken resides in Durban, South Africa, and is qualified as both a Commercial Pilot, and Clinical Audiologist. He began his career when he left school, in 2006, by starting his Private Pilot Licence in the helicopter stream at the Starlite International Aviation Training Academy in Durban. Kyle went on to complete his Private Pilot Licence (PPL) in 2006, as well as his Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) in 2010, at Starlite Aviation.

Throughout his time at Starlite, Kyle also worked in many different roles in the company itself, expanding his knowledge and experience as much as he possibly could. This included conducting lectures on the theoretical modules for both the (PPL) and (CPL) syllabuses. Kyle left Starlite towards the end of 2011, when the opportunity arose, to obtain some industry flying experience. He did so, operating as a vehicle tracking and recovery pilot for Altech Netstar.

Kyle made the decision to return to the arena of academics in 2013, by embarking on the completion of his degree in Audiology, at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. Kyle graduated top of his class, with an Honours degree in Communication Pathology: Audiology, in 2016. He also received a Dean’s Commendation for his achievements.

Following this, Kyle was placed at Murchison District Hospital in the Ugu District (KZN South Coast), for his year of community service. He obtained a vast amount of experience in his time there, including clinical work with both neonatal hearing testing, and ototoxicity monitoring for TB and TB-MDR/XDR patients.

In 2018, Kyle joined a private practice in Durban, as a Clinical Audiologist. He has been working with ALL EARS Audiology and Hearing Aids, to the current day, with special interests in neonatal assessments, aviation audiology, occupational audiology, hearing aids, and hearing protection.

Kyle plans to use his knowledge and experience in both the fields of Aviation and Audiology, to bridge the gap between these two industries. He intends on providing those involved in the aviation and related sectors (through their sound and hearing), with the ability to not only ensure that they can safely and efficiently carry out their professional responsibilities, but also embrace and enjoy their passions wholeheartedly.
